A fabulous programme of glorious choral music with works by Poulenc, Pergolesi and Stravinsky.
The dramatic Stabat Mater, written in 1736, is one of Pergolesi's most celebrated compositions The other two works in the concert are more modern. "Quatre motets pour un temps de pénitence" are a capella pieces composed by Francis Poulenc in 1938–39. The composition of Igor Stravinsky’s Mass, published in 1948, was prompted by his discovery of some Mozart masses in a Los Angeles second-hand bookshop. With soloists, choir and organ this selection will be a joy to listen to. Don't miss it!
