Back for 2025!! Last year’s competition was an amazing success and the excitement for STOL in Sumner County is contagious. So, I’m very excited to announce that Music City STOL is coming back again this year!
A ticket gives you access to both days of STOL action. Tickets aren't on sale yet but be looking out as you can buy early and save $$!
- Friday is practice day. Gates open at 10am and practice is from 12:30pm-4pm. Food trucks and vendor booths will be out all day on Friday.
- Friday night we are brewing something special.... TOP SECRET for now, but once we're ready to announce, we'll be posting here first. Make sure to respond to the event and follow the Music City STOL FB page so you'll be the first to know!
- Saturday, gates open at 9:00am. The event kicks off at 10:00am and the competition portion will go to around 4:30pm. Lots of Food Trucks and Vendors will be onsite and will be an action-packed day full of fun!
For those new to STOL, Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) aircraft are aircraft built to get in and out of an area in the shortest amount of time possible. Some aircraft are designed from the ground up to be a STOL airplanes, and others have just been modified to make them more capable as STOL aircraft. They can operate on and off airport, on grass, snow, ice or any other runway in harsh conditions. They can also operate off prepared strips.
National STOL has taken the skill and science of STOL flying and created a national competition to showcase the excitement of watching pilots push their aircraft to the limits of what's possible in a very organized and safe environment. They showcase this event all over the country and we are fortunate to be hosting them right here in Gallatin, TN!
This is also a great opportunity to showcase the excitement of General Aviation to students in our area. Aviation encompasses every facet of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). There is not a better way to see all of these come together in a fun and exciting way and know this is something they can achieve for fun or as a career!
We will be posting updates over the next several months and link to other STOL events. We can't wait to bring STOL back to Middle TN and hope that you'll be a part of the excitement!
