A film screening and conversation presented in partnership with KU Medical Center and Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center.
"Orchestrating Change" tells the inspiring story of the only orchestra in the world created by and for people living with mental illness. The mission of Me2 Orchestra is to erase mental health stigma one concert at a time. It is truly changing the lives of these musicians by providing community, an artistic outlet, and acceptance. Most important, the orchestra shows the power of music to promote well-being. Seen across the United States on public television stations, the film is a winner of the Austen Riggs Erikson Prize for Excellence in Mental Health Media. The American Library Association & Media Round Table voted it “One of the Top Twelve Notable Films for Adults.”
Film screening: 7:00–8:30 pm (doors open at 6:30 pm), followed by a panel conversation from 8:30 to 9:00 pm, featuring local experts in the fields of music, mental health and medicine.
