Music and Lyric Writing with Isaiah Dreads
About this Event
FIND YOUR VOICE: HIP-HOP, LYRICS & STORYTELLING WITH ISAIAH DREADS
Free creative studio sessions for ages 16–25
Calling local rappers, lyricists, spoken word artists and music makers!
Fancy spending some time developing your craft alongside an experienced hip-hop artist who's worked with some incredible producers?
Join rapper, MC and creative facilitator Isaiah Dreads for three FREE creative studio sessions at CODA, exploring hip-hop, lyric writing, storytelling and performance.
Whether you're working on your own lyrics, experimenting with beats and flow, developing your performance skills or just looking for fresh inspiration, these sessions are an opportunity to take your creativity a little further.
You'll have access to a large, purpose-built, soundproof studio space where you can bring your own work, test out new ideas, get feedback, share techniques and learn from Isaiah's experience in the music industry.
Come along for one session or make the most of all three!
Each session offers the chance to experiment, collaborate and develop your skills, but the more time you spend in the studio, the more opportunity you'll have to build on your ideas, develop original work and explore where it could go.
You don't need to have anything finished or prepared. Whether you're already creating music or just beginning to find your voice, bring your ideas, your curiosity and a willingness to try something new.
Session dates and times
- Monday 26 October: 10am–1pm
- Tuesday 27 October: 10am–1pm
- Wednesday 28 October: 2–5pm
You can book for one, two or all three sessions. There's no need to commit to the full programme, although we'd encourage you to join us for as many sessions as you can.
Completely FREE and open to young people aged 16–25. Spaces are limited, so advance booking is essential.
About The Nightjar Project
These sessions are part of The Nightjar Project, an African Activities CIC project exploring identity, migration, nature, home and belonging through creativity and cultural exchange.
At its heart is a simple question:
Who gets to tell your story?
There's no expectation to share personal experiences you'd rather keep private. This is your space to experiment with words, music and ideas, and discover what you want to say.
Participants retain ownership of the original lyrics, stories and creative work they produce.
