Learn how to grow your own food “on the cheap.” Mushrooms are both nutritious, delicious, and a welcome addition to any meal. This hands-on workshop will teach participants how easy it is to grow mushrooms in your very own backyard. The team at Winding Brook Farms will share their knowledge and enthusiasm for this practical and delightful hobby. The workshop will begin with a brief introduction to the art and science of growing mushrooms. Participants will then be guided through the hands-on, step-by-step process of growing mushrooms using low-tech straw and log substrates. Please bring a fully charged electric drill (corded is also fine) and a 5/16th bit.

At the end of the workshop, each participant will take home new fungal knowledge, a small basket inoculated with Blue Oyster mushrooms, and an inoculated Shiitake log. Everything else plus detailed instructions will be provided.
