Mushrooms at the Mountain with Hikes of Georgia's Ranger Darling

Description: Join mycologist Darling Ngoh from Hikes of Georgia and learn about the fascinating and wild world of fungi. The workshop will include an educational presentation as well as a walk about and forage in the forest to identify mushrooms.

What to expect: We will gather at the Arabia Mountain Nature Center for a brief informational presentation before setting off in search of a wide range of diverse mushrooms to be found throughout the Preserve.

Program leader: Your guide will be Ranger Darling Ngoh from Hikes of Georgia.

Where to meet: Find Ranger Darling in the Nature Center (3787 Klondike Rd)

What to bring: Wear comfortable footwear that you don't mind getting dirty, dress for the weather, and bring a refillable water bottle. Please feel free to bring a collection basket or bag if you have one. We will have some paper bags as well as sunscreen and bug spray on site.

Restrooms: Public restrooms are available in the parking lot at the Nature Center. Depending on the route, there are also portapotties scattered throughout the Preserve.

Recommended ages: This program content is designed for adults, but all ages are welcome.

Dogs: This program is NOT appropriate for dogs, so please leave your pup at home.

Weather contingency: This program will be canceled if there is rain or other inclement weather.

Walking distance: Varies depending on availability of mushrooms.

Exposure: This walk is mostly under shaded tree canopy and some in full sun.
