It arises from the mycelium, which may live hundreds of years or a few months, depending on its food supply. Since some poisonous mushrooms closely resemble edible ones, mushrooms intended for eating must be accurately identified.

Vaughters’ Farm is an iconic remnant of DeKalb County’s rural past and a part of Panola Mountain State Park. The barn sits on an agricultural landscape that is a centerpiece of the Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area (AMNHA). Enjoy the historic barn as well as the meadows and trails growing behind it. The former cow and horse pasture has been allowed to return to a meadow, preserving the dairy landscape and providing important habitat for a variety of wildlife. Behind the barns are scenic trails, offering the visitor with rich history, breathtaking beauty, unique biomes, and intriguing cultural histories.
