Learn how to identify and forage edible mushrooms in the Peak District and sample some wild gins
This is a slow paced meander through the beautiful woodlands around Ladybower where we will stop and look at mushrooms and things we can forage. I do expect to find Porcini and blushers and some funky russalas and more in these gorgeous woodlands.
The format of the day is simple. Meet and greet and wild foraged gin sampling to wet your appetite for wild edible treats, go for a mushroom hunt and finish with a fry up to taste our foraged finds. (There will be non alcohol versions available) The plan is to take enough knowledge from the course to be able to confidently identify some mushroom species on your own. The forest will decide what those species are on the day!
You'll get to choose a staff, the foragers friend, and then we're off into the woods. The ground can be slippery and muddy and it might rain, please wear boots or wellies and bring waterproofs. The plan is to forage enough treats for a fry up and mushroom butty at the end, but bring something to nibble on for your lunch. We will stop somewhere nice for a bite part way through the forage.
What to bring: Boots. Waterproofs. Your own staff, knife and basket if you have them. Lunch.
Don't worry about printing tickets, I'll have your name on my list once you've booked.
This will be my last forage of the Autumn season but i'll be back in the Spring!
