On Sunday, July 19th, 2026, the Wasilla-Knik Historical Society will proudly welcome Burt Bomhoff into the Mushers’ Hall of Fame!
He is a seven-time finisher of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, earning its Humanitarian award in 1984 and its Halfway award in 1985.
Bomhoff also presided over the Iditarod Official Finishers Club for six years.
While on the Iditarod’s board of directors, he served as President in 1986 and Executive Director in 1993.
He later published his personal accounts of the race in a book called “Iditarod Alaska: Life of a Long Distance Sled Dog Musher.”
Burt Bomhoff’s induction will be held outdoors with a free picnic lunch.
The event also features a raffle, a traditional mail delivery by Isaac Redington and his dog team, and an opportunity to peruse the Knik Museum at no charge!
