Explore the history of Turpentine in Florida from the Early Spanish Period through the 1940's and 50's with a focus on the lives of the workers in the scrub and pine after slavery. The job of the Woodsrider was that of supervisor, law man, tally man, scout, and overseer of the Still, and field operations in work camps and remote pine forests. These were places where forced labor and debt peonage were the rule, not the exception. See some of the tools used by the workers and the Woodsrider in their day-to-day lives.Songwriter, musician, storyteller and historic demonstrator C.T. Langrick aka Charlie Cracker is a fifth generation Floridian. He has worked on staff at The Florida Agricultural Museum in Palm Coast and at The Barberville Pioneer Settlement and is currently the volunteer Storytelling Coordinator for events at Barberville. "I enjoy sharing with others some of the sights, sounds, history and stories, along with some of my experiences growing up in central Florida," says Charlie. For over 35 years he has been sharing his unique blend of Cracker wisdom through his music, storytelling and through the various historical demonstrations and events he appears at throughout Florida.
