This recent biography of Josiah Henson reveals new information about the man, his life, experiences, his values and his aspirations. All previous biographies of Henson rely entirely on his four dictated autobiographies which, except for the first, were heavily embellished by his publishers. Outside research has discovered an entirely different man than that depicted in these earlier tomes that referred to him as “the real Uncle Tom.” “My Name is not Tom” are his own words spoken in a speech in Scotland before hundreds of people as he tried to separate himself from association with this fictional character.
