About this Event
Chloe will discuss transgender remembrance and archiving in anti-trans times, exploring how initiatives like the Museum of Transology (MoT) have actively created strategies to complicate the colonial cisheteronormative narratives that position transgender people as historically novel, without cultural lineage, or too complex to be properly archived.
Chloe will also consider how non-western ideas of 'transness' can be explored within this topic with reference to our current exhibition, Yuki Kihara's Darwin in Paradise Camp.

Speaker Biography
Chloe Turner is a writer and researcher currently completing a PhD with the Centre for Feminist Research, Goldsmiths University of London [gold.ac.uk]on transgender disinformation. Turner has held Visiting Research Fellow positions at the Institute for Social and Economic Research and Policy at Columbia University, New York (2023) and at the Chair of Transgender Studies, University of Victoria, Canada (2024-2025). Turner is an Associate Lecturer at Central Saint Martins, London and the Governance and Policy Lead at the Museum of Transology. Their academic writing can be found or forthcoming in European Journal of Cultural Studies, The Sociological Review, Culture, Health & Sexuality, Media Theory and The Geographical Journal.
