Celebrate the glory of bad gifts in this post-holiday-season exhibition!
About this Event

Returning for its second year, the wildly successful Museum of Bad Gifts is back to revel in the universal, yet rarely admitted, experience of terrible gifts.

December 26 - Jauary 5, 12-6 (closed Mondays and New Years Day)
Northern Contenporary Gallery
420 Roncesvalles
Opening reception: Boxing Day, December 26, 6-10
@museumofbadgifts

The Museum of Bad Gifts is a tongue-in-cheek tribute to the chaos of holiday consumption, the pressure of giving under obligation, and wild mistakes in judgment. This post-holiday exhibit explores the emotional and cultural clutter left in the wake of obligatory gift-giving, the feelings of disconnection, and the strange allure of unwanted items. The museum explores the rituals of giving and receiving and the discomfort of “stuff” we never asked for.

Last year the museum welcomed over 1000 visitors and received extensive media coverage, from Global News to Smithsonian Magazine.

The Museum of Bad Gifts will feature:
Bad gifts that have been reinterpreted and elevated by a stellar selection of artists.
A display of bad gifts with explanations of what made them bad.
A bad gift illustration zone where you can draw bad gifts from your past.

Have you been the recipient of a bad gift?*
The Museum of Bad Gifts would like to put your bad gifts on display for the world to appreciate, either on loan or as a donation. Donated items will be included in an ongoing silent auction to raise funds for the Daily Bread Food Bank, transforming your unwanted gift into someone else’s cherished treasure.
Register at www.museumofbadgifts.com
Registration closes on December 21.
* Bad gifts are completely subjective. Bad gifts are not exclusive to the holiday season. At the Museum of Bag Gifts, we believe all bad gifts should be celebrated equally.
