Muse Troupe- Dune Part 1 & 2

🎭 Muse Troupe
The Muse Troupe is CER's social and creative inspiration group. Gatherings are built around experiencing the stories, performances, aesthetics, and ideas that inspire our games. That might mean a movie night, attending a play or musical, visiting an exhibit, seeing a performance, or simply getting together to experience something interesting.
Selections aren't necessarily direct representations of CER's world. Instead, they may showcase ideas that have influenced our lore, costuming, creatures, characters, atmosphere, or approach to storytelling, or simply offer something we think could inspire our players and Narrative Team.
Come enjoy something together, see where some of our ideas come from, and maybe leave with a few new ideas of your own.
🎭 Why Are We Watching Dune?
The Muse Troupe isn't just about watching great movies together. Many of our selections highlight stories, cultures, aesthetics, and ideas that have helped inspire the world of CER.
For this gathering, we're traveling to Arrakis with Dune: Part One & Part Two, ahead of a group theater outing for the next film two weeks later.
The Fremen were a significant inspiration for elements of Sansurian culture within Medius. The Sansurians are not intended to be a direct recreation of the Fremen, but players familiar with Dune may recognize some of the creative DNA: a people shaped by an unforgiving environment, cultural practices born from survival and scarcity, fierce communal identity, and the way outsiders often misunderstand cultures that have adapted to conditions they themselves could scarcely survive.
As you watch, pay attention to how the Fremen's environment influences their clothing, customs, values, technology, spirituality, language, and approach to outsiders. Those relationships between place and culture were particularly influential when developing the Sansurians.
You don't need to study the movies or take notes. This is still movie night! But this is a chance to enjoy some fantastic science fiction together while also getting a glimpse at one of the inspirations behind Medius.
Part One & Part Two are only the beginning: we'll reconvene later for a Muse Troupe outing to see the newest chapter together in theaters.
