About
Curious about fused glass? Join us for a two day Murrine Glass Landscape workshop, perfect for beginners wanting to explore the art of glass fusing. Under the guidance of Sue Tinkler, you will learn foundational techniques for working with fused glass. This course includes glass cutting, layering, embossing and decorating.
Over the two days, you will create three small textured wall art pieces and a set of tea-lights. Using your own pulled molten glass murrine and pre-made murrine, you will add them to the base glass to add depth and texture to your work. No prior experience is required!
What you will be doing
Day 1 - Getting Started with Fusing
Learn the fundamentals of glass cutting
Create three small pieces featuring embossed textures, copper inclusion and surface colour
Begin first stage of full fused wall piece using techniques from the morning
Day 2 - Adding Texture and Detail
Pull vitrograph glass murrine to use in your designs (leaf shape)
Experiment creating soft, watercolour style effects using powders glass to make a set tealight holders
Add your vitrograph murrine leaves and other murrine shapes (from Tabitha’s Glass Emporium) to your landscape art
By the end of the workshop you will have hands-on experience with fused glass, and new handmade pieces to take home.
About the Artist
Visiting from the UK, Sue has been working with glass since 2000 having initially trained as a graphic designer. She developed her skills as a glass maker by attending over 20 master-classes with international glass makers, learning different techniques and processes. She enjoys mixing and matching these to create her own unique art glass, some of which has been sold in London galleries and at The British Glass Bienalle. Sue has a studio in Hampshire, UK where she has taught glass making to since 2012, she also assists other glass makers run master classes. Sue undertakes commissions for kitchen splashbacks and corporate awards.

Note: glass needs to cool down slowly in the kiln overnight. We can organise to post your projects at an additional fee if required.
