English version : Murder She Improvised is an improv murder mystery format created at Dad’s Garage Theatre in Atlanta where it has been running for almost twenty years!
The show has appeared at festivals and with different improv groups all across the world, and in this workshop, we’re going to learn how it works!
First, we’ll walk through the structure of the show, then we’ll run some practice scenes and review any tip, tricks and best practices we have for making the format sing.
Then in the evening – it’s show time!
As a class we’ll perform Murder She Improvised at Le Kibele at 21h30 - directed by Kevin.
So if you’ve ever dreamed of murdering someone with a candlestick in a library, or investigating who could have committed such a terrible crime, this is your chance!
Please note: part of this format is the use of costumes, so workshop participants will be asked to bring costume options with them (more details to come on what that should look like).
About the teacher, Kevin John Gillese :
Kevin is a Canadian comedy writer and performer with more than twenty years of experience squeezing laughs out of audiences.
He has written or co-written ten plays that have been produced at theatres in Canada and the United States. And he has written and produced dozens of short films, online sketches and web series… some of which are actually pretty good.
In 2023 he released his debut feature film "How To Ruin The Holidays" which he wrote and produced. And his debut comedy special "7 Minutes in Kevin" will be released on Tubi in 2025, it's "a side-splitting stand-up show that's not to be missed." (Edmonton Journal)
Kevin started out as an improviser & writer in Edmonton way back in the late 90s. He worked with improv institution, Rapid Fire Theatre, and eventually became the Artistic Director there for several years by the late 2000s. In 2010 he moved to Atlanta to take the Artistic Director job at Dad’s Garage Theatre, a position he held for exactly a decade, during which time he oversaw the development and production of over thirty original comedic plays as well as countless improv formats and comedy events.
Kevin's improv duo "Scratch" has been performing together since 2005 and has been called "the best improv show I've ever seen" (VUE magazine) and "the apex of Comedy Mountain" (SEE magazine).
