We begin with THE LAST OF SHEILA (1973), a sharp, star-studded puzzle written by Stephen Sondheim and Anthony Perkins. A wealthy film producer invites his friends on a Mediterranean cruise for an elaborate scavenger hunt, but soon, secrets surface and the game turns murderous. A glittering mix of camp, cruelty, and clue-laden twists, it’s a film that directly inspired Glass Onion, the sequel to Knives Out
Speaking of which, then Rian Johnson’s KNIVES OUT (2019) brings the classic whodunit roaring into the present. After the mysterious death of a best-selling crime novelist, the eccentric detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) must unravel a web of greed, lies, and betrayal among the dysfunctional Thrombey family.
With Wake Up Dead Man in cinemas and premiering on Netflix on the 12th of December, now’s the perfect time to experience the modern mystery after our double bill of star studded classic Agatha Christie adaptations in July
