MURDER BY THE BOOK (© Laura Teasdale) is a Murder Mystery/Comedy written to be used as a fundraiser for libraries. The Front Porch Players is producing this play in partnership with the Rosemount Friends of the Robert Trail Library.

The script is a “Play within a play.” The “Friends of the Two Spruce Library” is producing a play in hopes of raising enough money to save their beloved library. Several volunteer actors are taking part. We open to the final rehearsal only an hour before the audience is to arrive: it is at this point an ACTUAL murder occurs of one of the cast members, leaving the remaining cast members to make the choice: cancel the play, or…. proceed and hope the audience doesn’t notice the body.
Playwright Laura Teasdale was sponsored by mystery novelist Louise Penny to offer this comedy script free to libraries for their fundraising endeavors.
