Mum's the Word: CALL FOR ART

New Bern’s annual Mumfest brings thousands of visitors to the downtown area for fun, shopping, and entertainment. As part of the festival, Craven Arts Council will host Mum’s the Word, an art exhibition and contest to select artwork for the next year’s Mumfest. There will be a youth category. The winner will receive a prize of $200 and their piece will be featured on t-shirts, bags, banners, and other promotional items for the 2027 celebration.
Mum’s the Word will be featured in our Director’s Gallery for the month of October 2026. Each piece in the exhibition is required to feature Chrysanthemum flowers. From these works, one will be selected as the MumFest logo for 2027! Craven Arts Council will host a reception for the exhibition during our October ArtWalk 5-8pm on Friday, October 9th. Entries are reviewed by members of the MumFest planning committee who will select the winner. Other artworks in the show will be offered for sale at a 60/40 consignment split. There is no entry fee to apply.
