About this Event
Mulwade Presents: 'Riot Act'
Created and performed by Alexis Gregory.
Directed by Rikki Beadle-Blair.
Join the Mulwade Foundation for a moving solo performance event that celebrates LGBTQ+ history, ignites action for the future, and embodies our core values: Support, Guidance, and Education.
Alexis Gregory's "Riot Act" is more than a play – it's a time machine. Through captivating storytelling, truth, and humour, Gregory transforms into three iconic figures, offering:
Support: Witness the Stonewall uprising and the fight for LGBTQ+ liberation alongside Michael-Anthony Nozzi. See the courage it took to stand up for what's right.
Guidance: Discover the world of early drag and its role in the movement with Lavinia Co-Op. Gain a deeper understanding of LGBTQ+ history and self-expression.
Education: Confront the realities of the AIDS crisis and the ongoing fight for equality through Paul Burston's story. Learn about the heroes who paved the way for progress in healthcare and activism.
Riot Act isn't just about the past. It's a powerful reminder of the struggles and triumphs that continue to shape the LGBTQ+ community today. The show is a white-knuckle, celebratory, hard-hitting, hilarious rollercoaster ride through six decades of queer life. This critically-acclaimed audience-favourite is a total...riot!
This intimate performance aligns perfectly with Mulwade Foundation's mission by:
Supporting the LGBTQ+ community by honouring its heroes and the ongoing fight for equality.
Guiding attendees towards a deeper understanding of LGBTQ+ history and its impact on the present.
Educating audiences about pivotal moments, influential figures, and the ongoing need for support and activism.
Leave inspired and empowered!
Riot Act has been performed in the West End, across London and the UK on four tours, filmed and currently streaming globally via Broadway on Demand, and translated for international performances.
