About Your Instructors
Ben Lieb
Ben has been dancing since 1995. He has studied, and sometimes worked really darn hard at: Clogging, flatfooting, tap dance, Swing, Lindy Hop, Balboa, Argentine Tango, Salsa, Cuban Salsa, Bachata, Contra Waltz, Zydeco, Two-Step, Quebecois Jig (step dancing), Blues, Fusion, and others. He taught, called and performed with the Hoorah Cloggers for a decade in Blacksburg VA, performed and toured with the ecclectic Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble in the DC area, taught, DJd, and hosted events in Lindy Hop, Argentine Tango, and fusion in Asheville, Portland, San Francisco, and Montreal. He brings a structured, exercise-based approach to dance education, having a masters degree in Foreign Language Education and a former career as a French and English teacher and Spanish Medical Interpreter. His (second) 2-decade career as a software engineer honed his ability to reduce complex systems into their essential component parts and present them in digestible, approachable ways that students find refreshing.
Mac Frazier
Mac (they/them) has been dancing since 2009 in various forms. Their love of partner dancing began with Contra and Contra Waltzing, and quickly progressed to include East Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, Blues, Balboa, Fusion, and occasional dabbling in West Coast Swing, Tango, Kizomba, and Zouk. They are currently an organizer and coordinator for Asheville Fusion Dance and have been teaching and DJing Fusion since 2022. Mac gravitates to isolated micro-movements, flowy footwork, and any move that elicits a laugh in their dancing! As an instructor, they seek to put students at ease through consent-based interactions and humor, and they encourage student feedback and dialogue during lessons.
