OUR KIDS NEED MORE PLAY AND OUR TEACHERS NEED MORE PAY!!!
The Virginia Beach School Board has made a decision to change March 13 and April 3 from early release days to full instructional days to “make up for snow days”. Our children had asynchronous learning days that meet the state requirement for educational days, teachers prepared lesson plans as a normal day, and educators are not going to be compensated for this additional instructional time. If we band together as parents, we can stand up for our teachers and refuse to send our children to school on these two days (or still pick them up early) as a quiet yet impactful message that we oppose this decision.
I understand not every parent will be able to participate as this may require you to adjust a work schedule or find alternative childcare. But for those of you who do participate, I would love to meet up at Mt. Trashmore for a day of play!
If enough parents show interest in this event, I intend to email the school board notifying them of this public opposition and the number of parents in support, in hopes they will reconsider their decision.
