ELECTRIC MAN is a one-man band presenting folk, rock and blues music with live lead vocals and guitar using special effects. Electric Man is backed up with his own prerecorded vocal harmonies and guitar parts. The Electric Man rig is a homemade instrument, invented in 1990 to perform in the Philadelphia Folk Festival campgrounds, which he has done late at night ever since. Electric Man is enthusiastically greeted by festers, many of whom have known him for years. When he appeared on Gene Shay’s radio show, Gene said Electric Man exemplified the campground’s creative culture. In 2020, Electric Man’s 1-minute video was shown on the PFF virtual main stage. In 2022, Electric Man played to thousands of campers from the Thursday night camp stage. In 2023-2024, “Electric Man the Movie” was/is provided to donors to the Philadelphia Folksong Society’s online giving portal; associated promotional videos with original short songs have and will be used by the Folksong Society to attract donors. Electric Man was the opening act for the Saturday show at every one of the first 23 Xtreme Folk Festivals. Electric Man is scheduled to be the opening act for Jeanette and Steve at the August 13, 2024 Woofstock concert at the Seger Dog Park in Philadelphia.
JEANETTE AND STEVE are a married acoustic duo featuring Steve on guitar and both Jeanette and Steve on vocals - often singing sophisticated harmonies. Steve studied jazzN guitar and is an experienced rock ‘n roll guitarist and vocalist. Twenty years ago, Jeanette rediscovered her singing voice through study of cabaret performance – telling stories through song. Most recently, Jeanette has brought her kazoo playing skills into the duo’s act. Their eclectic repertoire includes obscure gems found through Steve’s diligent “song mining”, Folk songs, American standards, Broadways hits, Blues, and 60s and 70s style rock and roll and folk rock. Jeanette and Steve specialize in modifying lyrics, melodies, and arrangements of most of the songs in their repertoire to give an existing song a new and refreshing perspective. They have performed throughout the Philadelphia area and elsewhere, including frequent performances at Cosmic Café and Ciderhouse, Malelani Café, and Head House Café in Philadelphia and at Magikava and John and Peters in New Hope, PA. They have also performed at Retirement Communities including Rydal Waters in Jenkintown and Atria in Lafayette Hill and at long term care facilities throughout the region. Jeanette and Steve have recently upgraded the quality of their sound system so that they can be heard in just about any venue.
