Mr. David Metheny's Retirement Party

After 28 years of teaching elementary school, Dave Metheny is retiring! He began working at age 11 by delivering the San Bernardino Sun newspaper on his trusty Schwinn Stingray bicycle. In high school and college, he worked in grocery stores and then moved onto a 15-year career in sales and banking. He then found his true calling and passion in his mid-30s - teaching elementary school children! He never looked back!

Through his gifted storytelling, many "Metheny-isms", true acceptance of all children, and the belief that every child can learn, Mr. Metheny impacted the lives of almost 1,000 students in grades 4, 5 & 6. He taught for 1 year in Perris and then spent 27 years teaching in Yucaipa; 14 years at Yucaipa Elementary School and the last 13 at Wildwood Elementary School.
