About The ConcertIn honour of his 50th birthday, the Finnish government commissioned Sibelius to write his powerful Fifth Symphony, a masterwork that has become a staple in orchestral repertoire. Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, which was completed shortly before his death, features soaring melodies and a sublime middle movement. Zosha Di Castri’s 2023 composition, Pentimento, portrays the idea of perpetual cycles, both large and small, within music.
Prelude
Patrons of this event are invited to attend a prelude presentation before this concert on Saturday, January 18th, starting at 6:45 PM in the Upper Circle Lobby (3rd Floor). This talk by D.T. Baker is a fantastic way to learn more about the pieces being performed in your concert.
