Mowing to Monarchs Pocket Prairie Tour
**Can a steep, difficult-to-mow slope become a thriving pollinator paradise? Come see for yourself!**
Join us for the Mowing to Monarchs Pocket Prairie Tour and explore three inspiring native plant projects that show what’s possible when lawn is transformed into habitat. This year’s featured sites include two challenging hillside conversions and a beautiful curbside pocket prairie that demonstrates how native plantings can be both functional and attractive in a neighborhood setting.
Whether you’re a current Mowing to Monarchs participant looking for ideas and inspiration, or someone considering applying to the program, this is a wonderful opportunity to see established pocket prairies up close and learn from the homeowners who created them.

🕠 Time:: Anywhere from 5:30–7:30 PM
This is a relaxed, self-guided tour. Feel free to stop by any or all of the featured locations during the tour window. Homeowners and Mowing to Monarchs representatives will be available to answer questions about:
* Site preparation methods
* Planting and establishment
* Maintenance and W**d management
* Favorite native plants
* Butterflies, bees, birds, and other wildlife they’ve observed in their prairie
Prairie Passport & Prize Drawing:
Pick up a Prairie Passport at any tour stop and have it stamped as you visit each featured pocket prairie. Visitors who complete all three tour stops can enter a drawing for a Pocket Prairie Expansion Package that includes native plants next spring.
Explore Citizen Science: Be sure to stop by our iNaturalist & Bee Identification Station to learn how you can help document pollinators and wildlife in your own yard. We’ll show you how the free iNaturalist app. It can be used to identify butterflies, bees, and other prairie visitors while contributing to real citizen science research. Try your hand at our Bee ID Challenge and discover how scientists and gardeners use these observations to better understand local biodiversity.
Bring a friend, neighbor, or family member! This tour is a great introduction to native landscaping and a chance to gather ideas for your own yard while connecting with others who are passionate about pollinators and prairie plants.
