Join the Floyd Resiliency Group in this important conversation ~ Let us discuss Food (in)security in Floyd County and help every family in town enjoy a healthy, delicious Thanksgiving dinner.Panel Discussion AND Plenty! Holiday Food Drive on Wednesday, November 12 @6pm at The Floyd Country Store.
What is the state of food security in Floyd now? And what can we do to help?
Shannon Hardwicke from Plenty! and Mo McGonnagle from LEAP are anchoring the discussion.
Given the turbulence with SNAP funding, we are hoping to share a full picture of the need in Floyd and in the region. We hope to better develop a community picture of our broader food system. We then would like to catalyze conversations on what the community can do to advance food security throughout the holiday season, this winter, and into the 2026 gardening season.
The Floyd Country Store will live stream the conversation. Their cafe will not be open, but we are working with Sustain Floyd to have some light refreshments.
Plenty! is on a mission to ensure that every family in Floyd County has a healthy, delicious Thanksgiving dinner. To make this happen, we're sharing our wish list:
Fresh or frozen turkeys
Canned goods (vegetables, fruits, beans)
Stuffing mix
Canned Gravy
Cranberry sauce
Pumpkin pie filling
Non-perishable sides (macaroni, rice, pasta)
Canned Biscuits or Rolls
*Please only donate non-expired foods
Plenty! will have a van outside or The Floyd Country Store to receive donations during this event.
