About this Event
Join us for Moving Forward, a book discussion series geared towards those who have suffered a loss or tragedy and could use an infusion of hope. In cooperation with Hospice of Central PA, we will be reading books focusing on the redemptive power of the human spirit. You must have read or listened to the book to attend. Ages 18 and older, please. Registration for all sessions begins May 1.
Wednesday, June 5 – Our Beating Hearts by Herd Alan Midkiff
Join us this month as we discuss Midkiff’s memoir "about remembering and accepting that often our lives are changed forever in ways we wish they weren’t. But as we put the broken pieces back together, healing does come, and we can begin to imagine a new journey that lies ahead.”
Wednesday, July 3 – Lily and the Octopus by Steven Rowley
Join us this month as we discuss Rowley's novel about Ted and “his steadfast companionship of Lily, his elderly dachshund. . . . Lily and the Octopus reminds us how it feels to love fiercely, how difficult it can be to let go, and how the fight for those we love is the greatest fight of all.”
Wednesday, August 7 – When the Tears Dry by Meredith Hawkins
Join us as we discuss Hawkin’s memoir: “when her marriage fell apart, she felt lost, consumed by immeasurable pain and loss. . . . Hawkins relates her personal struggles alongside powerful stories of resilience from women she met while volunteering in her community and abroad.”
