The untold love story that inspired Shakespeare’s greatest masterpiece.
On a summer’s day in 1596, a young girl in Stratford-upon-Avon takes to her bed with a sudden fever. Her twin brother, Hamnet, searches everywhere for help. Why is nobody at home? Their mother, Agnes, is over a mile away, in the garden where she grows medicinal herbs. Their father is working in London. Neither parent knows that Hamnet will not survive the week.
Hamnet tells the powerful story of Agnes and Will, and of the son whose life has been all but forgotten, but who inspired one of the greatest plays ever written.
Hamnet was voted Outstanding British Film of the Year (BAFTAs 2026) and Best Motion Picture (Golden Globes 2026) and stars Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley who won the Oscar, BAFTA and Golden Globes for her performance.
Certificate: 12
Running Time: 125 minutes
