About this Event

Movies in Palatka: Sense of Place

A movie series presented in a historic downtown Palatka theater across the street from Angel’s Diner screening Americana films and true-life stories about Palatka.

Meet at the Larimer to watch a big-studio reenactment of Willam Bartram's travels. Full of suspense and dramatic encounters, the raw wilderness of this exact stretch of Florida pushes an 18th-century explorer to the edge. He nearly dies exploring the St. Johns River that runs through Palatka. Get swept back in time to experience the true-life journey that put Palatka on the map as a destination for leisure travelers, sportsmen, and adventure seekers.

• Go inside the legend, danger, and discovery: the same water, the same land, the same high-stakes moment when this corner of Florida first entered the American story.
• The program opens with a piece on Palatka's Memory from the Florida Historical Society
• Closes with Seminole Pathways from Emmy Award-winning Fuxion Studios. About two hours. Between films, travel videos show what to do and see in Palatka and Putnam County.

Screenings most days at Larimer Arts Center (Scarlett Hill Theater or alternate spaces). Times subject to change—check email for confirmation. Sign up to hold your seat.
