Remember those times your parents or grandparents told you about? Going to the movies on a Saturday afternnon, watching westerns, comedies, horror and science fiction films. Every matinee would begin with a newsreel, followed by a cartoon and then the main event - a great film. The Capitol Theatre of Greeenville is hopping to recreate that event once a month for the entire year. Each event will begin with a newsreel from long ago, followed by classic cartoons and a classic feature film. Tickets are only $5.00 for the entire afternoon.
Join us for a classic western adventure. A senator returns to a Western town for the funeral of an old friend and tells the story of his origins. Questions arise when Senator Stoddard (James Stewart) attends the funeral of a local man named Tom Doniphon (John Wayne) in a small Western town. Flashing back, we learn Doniphon saved Stoddard, then a lawyer, when he was roughed up by a crew of outlaws terrorizing the town, led by Liberty Valance (Lee Marvin). As the territory's safety hung in the balance, Doniphon and Stoddard, two of the only people standing up to him, proved to be very important, but different, foes to Valance.
