Move with Odissi - Indian Classical Dance Workshop
About this Event
Odissi is a neoclassical dance tradition of India, with roots in the temple and folk dances of Odisha, eastern India. The dance is known for its lyrical movements and expressive gestures. Move with Odissi is a three-hour workshop designed for absolute beginners to learn and practice some of Odissi’s foundational movements, gestures, and storytelling.
Organized by Maple Street Studios, Ypsilanti, MI, this workshop will be led by Vrishali Parab, an odissi dancer based in Metro Detroit. Vrishali finds joy in exploring Odissi through diverse music and stories and shares that joy with the community.
Come move and tell stories through Odissi with Vrishali!
