Basic Waterfall Canyoning Course. An 8-day course that will give you the skills to safely descend our aquatic canyons. It is appropriate for complete novices, as well as desert canyoneers and climbers who are new to an aquatic environment.
It consists of one seminar day (3 dates available to choose from) to go over the basics of knotcraft and rappelling, and 7 full days of coursework to be had in-canyon as well as in the Mountaineers Program Center.
There are 3 different group/date options: a compressed course Thursday July 10th - Thursday July 17th, and two different weekend group options from late-June to late-July. (Check the website for the specific dates and details).
There will be one evening (6:30-8:30pm) assessment at the end, and one Pot luck end of course celebration.
While Groups B and C are open to anyone, Group A is offered to students who identify as BIPOC. The Mountaineers is proud to offer the first BIPOC Waterfall Canyoning Course in North America. The course is taught by experienced POC canyon instructors and is designed to increase the representation of BIPOC individuals in the canyoning community and ultimately, in canyoning leadership, guiding, and industry. This course is open to folks who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) who are interested in learning the sport of canyoning.
Very important: You must attend all course sessions - no exceptions.
The course also includes a complete online companion course through V7 Academy including videos, pictures, and text, which is accessible at any time.
