There are no prerequisites to take a Mountain Skills 1 course, but you should have some previous hillwalking experience.
We work on a maximum ratio of 1 instructor to 6 clients.
The Mountain Skills 1 course covers the following topics:
Map reading
Grid references
Depiction of relief (contours)
Mountain hazards
Basic navigation techniques
Pacing and timing
Introduction to the compass
Personal Equipment
The mountain environment
Route planning
