MoToR/dance creates powerful interlocking percussive dance arrangements with layered vocal harmonies and large group choreography, in a moving choir led by Artistic Director Evie Ladin. Creating emotionally in-depth works for film and live performance, MoToR/dance pushes the envelope in Body Music and Contemporary Dance. MoToR/dance pieces often overtly reunite African diaspora polyrhythms with Appalachian/American traditional song. Following two sold out runs of “Water in the Kettle” in the Bay Area in 2023 and 2024, their new show MoToRING ON will feature MoToR/dance repertoire that spans the emotional range from bombastic to subtle, spiritual to humorous, with the power of a multigenerational all-female ensemble.
