MOTION = a gathering of movement; a place where there is nothing to learn and everything to remember.

Permisions:

be weird + get lit + feel soft + go deep + move alone + make contact + shake + witness + dance + be danced + tune in + trance out + arrive in your truth + leave connected

Boundaries:

no phones + no outdoor shoes + no talking on the dance floor + no intoxication + no spectating + no crossing other peoples physical boundaries

The Update:

Our first gathering of 2026 and we’re continuing to revel in the evening energy.

Monday will be our new home for the foreseeable - plus a few Saturday sessions spread throughout 2026.

Availability of the mighty Great Hall will always be something to work with - but we’re dreaming big and the year ahead will remain pretty epic.

Consider it an artistic act where we disrupt the status quo around what the start of the week is all about.

By offering regular monthly Mondays I hope we can continue to grow as a community and bask in our magical space at Goldsmiths Uni.

I mean, let’s be honest, it’s still going to be great.

Two big waves of music, minimal guidance, a juicy sound system, a wonderful floor to dance on and plenty of time to be together.

MOTION is its own mercurial beast and your continued support to feed it never ceases to blow me away!

***A NEW DAWN*** 26/1/26

Solar new year, lunar new year, unicorn new year... nothing changes if you don’t call it in.

This gathering is all about walking our talk.

Stepping up to the desires, the wants, the releases, the tears, the laughter, the love.

Showing up to the graft it requires to blossom, the rawness it requires to feel.

We all have the opportunity to make change.

Whether it be in our life; in other peoples lives; or in the world around us.

So what life do you want to live?

And how will you embody it?

Never been before?

Feel welcome. This is a large group movement session in which we dance through the 5Rhythms movment map. This natural and powerful exploration of embodiment allows us to easily acces the richness of our individual and collective expereince; opening the doors to somatic process and cathartic ecstasy. It's recommened to bring a full water bottle and layers to move in comfortably.

Timings:

Completing together is always easier when we start together. Arrive early to really drop into the body. I honestly believe the greatest learnings I have recieved have been before the doors close.

Venue:

We dance in The Great Hall, inside the Richard Hoggart Building of Goldmsiths University, SE146NW (enter via the big main entrance).

With a comfrotable wooden floor that's over 550msq to move in + a juicy sound system + climactic waves of music, this is Londons largest movement space in more ways than one.

Facilitation:

Sessions are held by Tim Barnes - known for his music led, DJ centred approach to creating sonic sound journeys that bridge the highs of Ecstatic Dance + the depths of 5Rhythms. He’s been utilising dance as his healing modality for nearly 15 years, and holding space for others’ processes across the last 5, both in the UK and internationally with classes, workshops, retreats and festivals.
