About this Event
As a new mother it’s easy to become so completely consumed by looking after your tiny, infinite baby, that your self-identity can feel compromised. Join Emylia Hall for this one off Mothership Writers workshop to nurture your own creative spirit.
Mothership Writers is about finding the pockets of time that you perhaps didn’t think existed, and filling them with good things. It’s about taking a moment – amidst the chaos – to find your flow and hear your own voice.
Through friendly and accessible teaching, and fun and engaging writing exercises, we’ll help you find out who you are as a writer and begin your collection of writing that documents your experience of new motherhood.
This workshop will take place at New Milton Library in the children's section; turn right as you enter the library. Designed for mums with babies aged two or under, and please bring a notebook and something to write with!
The library is an 8 minute walk from New Milton train station. Nearest bus stops are on Gore Road and Old Milton Road, 2 minutes walk away. There is accessible parking for blue badge holders. Other public paid for parking is available on nearby streets. Visit the library's website to find out more: https://www.hants.gov.uk/librariesandarchives/library/libraryfinder/new-milton-library
Emylia Hall is the author of seven novels, including the Richard and Judy book club pick The Book of Summers and The Thousand Lights Hotel, which was recently chosen by Fearne Cotton for her Happy Place Book Club. In 2023 Emylia launched The Shell House Detectives Mysteries, a new ‘cosy crime’ series set on the Cornish coast. The Shell House Detectives was a Kindle Top 10 bestseller, and the rights have been optioned for TV. Since then two more Shell House books have been published – and there are plenty more to come. Her work has been translated into ten languages, and broadcast on BBC Radio 6 Music. Emylia is a writing coach at The Novelry, and has also taught writing workshops in Kigali, Zurich, for the University of Lausanne, and for Arvon. She is the founder of Mothership Writers and lives in Bristol with her husband – who is also a writer – and their young son.
Mothership Writers is also based in Bristol; more information about their online and in-person courses can be found at https://www.mothershipwriters.com.
