Conductor Nicholas O'Neill will be giving a pre-concert talk about the background to the Requiem's composition and completion at 6.30pm to which all are invited to attend free of charge. Tickets for the concert, itself, can be booked via our website at https://www.occamsingers.co.uk/October2025Haydn: Insanae et vanae curae
Mozart: God is our refuge, K. 20
Piano Sonata in D major for four hands, K. 381
Ave verum corpus, K. 618
Requiem in D minor, K. 626
This lovely programme includes a short motet composed very early in Mozart's life (he was 9) and his last composition on which he was still working as he lay dying. Haydn's text seems particularly appropriate for our times though does go on to offer hope for the future: "Insane and vain concerns invade our minds, and often fill with fury the soul deprived of hope."
The three accompanied choral pieces will be performed with organ.
