This hands on mosaic class will allow you to explore the beauty of glass. You will create either a palm tree with sunset or a tropical fish. Frame, glass, and all tools will be provided. Frame sizes are usually 5x5 or 5x7 depending on what the artist repurposes for this class. You will learn to use nippers, safety goggles, and will watch a grouting demonstration. Stained glass colors may vary from the photo. All students must be 14 years of age or older.
Born in the Chicago area, Mary followed her songs to Florida when the grandchildren were born. She fell in love with the beauty of stained glass, but the process calls for precision and exposure to lead fumes in the solder. Using the stained glass as a mosaic proved to be just as satisfying, less precise, and a bit safer. Mary loves working with glass and she shows her work at the Arts Alliance in Englewood and at the Venice Arts Center show in February.
Classes are non-refundable because we have limited space and the artists need to prepare. You can find another person to take your seat if you are unable to attend.
