Step back in time and experience the gritty charm of classic northeastern railroading with a special Erie Lackawanna themed photo freight excursion, hosted by Timeless Rail Expeditions and the New York & Lake Erie Railroad. At this exclusive event, you'll have the opportunity to spend a morning on Erie Lackawanna's Buffalo & Southwestern branch as ALCO S1 #308 wearing it's Erie/Erie Lackawanna dress pulls a work train from Cherry Creek to Gowanda, New York on home rails it operated on during the 1950s and 60s. With period theming, this event will recreate the look and feel of the storied trackage during the twilight years of common carrier service under the legendary Erie Lackawanna banner, with a rare chance to capture a freight consist on present day New York & Lake Erie trackage. This charter is designed to evoke the hardworking spirit of the early EL in the 1960s and includes a train ride on rare mileage, multiple photo runbys, and poses in optimal morning light. New York & Lake Erie's two ALCO FPA locomotives will also be part of the morning outing, serving as positing power and secondary photo subjects throughout the morning.
