Join us for Morning Calm with Nicolas Ventura, pianist from the Royal College of Music who will be playing works by Haydn, Scarlatti, Beethoven, Prokofiev, Chopin, Debussy and Balakriev.Morning Calm is a short piano recital beginning at 8:40, consisting of around 10-12 minutes of music followed by a few minutes' silence for reflection and meditation before ending with short prayers for the day ahead. You are most welcome to stay for the whole recital or if you would prefer not to stay for the Christian conclusion to leave just before the end. Morning Calm aims to offer a reflective and calm start to the day for people of any faith or none in the hustle and bustle of the West End of London.
Praised for his “limitless palette of colours” and “technical mastery and authority” (ChristopherAxworthyMusicCommentary), Nicolas Ventura has played extensively throughout Europe and the UK. His most recent appearances as soloist and with orchestras include such venues as the Jacqueline Du Pré Music Building in Oxford, Wigmore Hall and the Brazilian Embassy in London, Palau de la Musica Catalana in Barcelona, Fazioli Concert Hall, Teatro la Fenice in Venice, Teatro Manzoni in Pistoia, Sölitar at Mozarteum in Salzburg, Florianka Concert Hall in Kraków and Danube Palace in Budapest among many others.
Alumnus of the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music, Nicolas studied with Konstantin Bogino, Tatiana Sarkissova and Dina Parakhina, under whose supervision he obtained his Artist Diploma from RCM. He currently studies with Roberto Prosseda and has been inspired and had important musical influences from such artists as Boris Berman, Benedetto Lupo, Imogen Cooper, Dmitri Alexeev, Marios Papadopoulos, Vanessa Latarche, Pavel Gililov and Arie Vardi.
Nicolas is the recipient of numerous prizes and awards, most recently the Oleg Prokofiev Trust Award and 2nd prize at the Concours Ile-de-France International Piano Competition. For the coming season he is excited to debut in Rome and Manchester with recitals for RomaTreOrchestra and at the Bridgewater Hall, and in London performing Prokofiev’s third piano concerto at Cadogan Hall, as well as the recording of his first commercial CD album “Origins” dedicated to the music of Prokofiev and Bloch.
