About this Event
Park in the streets around the junction of Riverside Road and Cornwall Road in St Albans (AL1 1SQ) and meet at the gates to the reserve which are down the path beside the bungalow that is number 238 Riverside Road.
Parking is permissible for non-residents except between 11am and 1pm.
The reserve has been successfully developed by a team of local volunteers and is reknown for its winter visitors such as siskin and redpoll to their feeders. Sightings of kingfishers, heron and ducks are also possible.
The paths are well maintained but the reserve is prone to flooding so come prepared for mud.
For those with mobility issues, there are benches to rest and the feeders can be viewed at all times, but the the small reserve itself could be difficult to walk around depending on the conditions on the day.
Once we have finished at the reserve, there is the option for those who have come by bus, train or on foot, to walk along the River Ver into St Albans. It's about a mile to cross Holywell Hill and go into Verulamium park to find coffee or lunch.
The event is free but a voluntary donation of £2 per person is suggested.
Parking spaces are limited so please try and car share.
All welcome, whatever your level of birdwatching knowledge. It will go ahead if it is raining. Call Rob on 07512 704744 for further details.
We might take photos of the event to publicise future events. If you do not wish to appear in them, please let the leader know.
