The 7th Annual Student Spotlight art show debuts Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Mount Horeb’s downtown Driftless Historium (100 S 2nd St), featuring the work of Mount Horeb High School’s Delilah Gasch and Raniah Hubbard.
This partner installation, entitled “More than Meets the Eye,” will be on display and free to all in the Kalscheur Family Foundation Community Gallery during the museum’s open hours (Friday through Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) through Tuesday, July 21.
Meet Delilah and Raniah at their artist reception on Saturday, June 27 between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served, and select works and prints featured in this show will be available for sale. All profits will stay with the artist.
Visitors to “More than Meets the Eye” are asked to reconsider commonly held conceptions about what is art worthy: consider Raniah’s intricate sculpture of a snacking snake’s graceful coils, or Delilah’s enigmatic rendering of a watchful grove of autumnal trees. Raniah notes that her work “celebrates the raw, imperfect beauty of the unloved”; while Delilah strives to “turn the commonplace into something more” and “bring forward the unseen.”
In a world defined by constant distractions and activity, the artists ask viewers to slow down and reflect. Their work is the collective result of finding beauty and inspiration in the ordinary and the unappreciated.
The Student Spotlight emphasis on student-driven planning and promotion is a fitting exercise for graduating Senior Raniah Hubbard, who will attend Middle Tennessee State University for Music Business. With her final year of high school on the horizon, rising Senior Delilah Gasch recognized the art show as an opportunity to hone her creative expression and build her confidence.
The Driftless Historium’s "Student Spotlight” celebrates the talent of area youth. This mentor-driven initiative provides an opportunity for young artists to gain experience producing and promoting a public art installation in a professional setting. It was developed in partnership with MHHS Art Department educators Anna King and Dana Showers, with funding provided by the Mount Horeb Area Historical Society.
