More than Human: Ouseburn Multispecies Futures
Join the artist James Stephen Wright in person at the Wild Roots Community Garden for an exciting dive into the world of multispecies futures and create a digital artwork to be displayed at the This is the North Convention in Scarborough!
Inspired by the community garden, we will make masks of the different creatures that could inhabit the Ouseburn and imagine what they need to keep their community going. Embodying the non-human creatures, we will collectively do a masked performance, which will be transformed digitally by interacting live with local climate data.
No prior knowledge is required. The workshop is suitable for attendees of all ages. Children and young people should be accompanied by a guardian.

Directions:
The Wild Roots Community Garden can be found on Stepney Bank, Ouseburn, NE1 2QE Go through the gates for the Print Works car park (where the Ouseburn market is held) and keep walking until you find the garden.
Accessibility:
The paths are relatively uneven. The gravel car park leads to the garden which has woodchip paths (suitable footwear is advised). The woodland is on an incline.
Toilets:
There are currently no toilets onsite, but there are facilities nearby (5 min walk down the hill to Stepney Stables). There is drinkable water from an ouside tap near the entrance.
The workshop is part of the Coast-to-Coast Artist Listener commission by People's Powerhouse, supported by the Arts Council & the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
This event is taking place on land connected to the Whoseburn? Project, an initiative testing alternative approaches to urban development in the area.
