About the Performance
The Clay Collective brings an expansive, groove-driven approach to Jazz Hauz, blending jazz with elements of hip hop, Latin, R&B, funk, and soul. Founded by Philadelphia-based drummer Clayton C. Carothers IV, the Collective is built on the idea that each musician is a creative force in their own right. Every performance reflects the individual voices of its members, coming together to form a cohesive, high-energy sound shaped by collaboration and improvisation.
The group’s music highlights the flexibility of jazz as a foundation—one that welcomes cross-genre influence while remaining rooted in rhythm, interplay, and feel. Audiences can expect a dynamic set that moves fluidly between styles, emphasizing both structure and spontaneity.
