1586 craters have been named on the moon, but only 28 are named after women. Join Ruth Boreham to hear about some of them, including astronomers, scientists, writers and a martyr.

Ruth Boreham currently works for Scottish Book Trust, on their Early Years Programme called Bookbug, but has a background of working in history. This has ranged from working at the National Library of Scotland as curator on the John Murray Archive (a publishing company who worked with authors such as Byron, Darwin and Livingstone), to working as a researcher on the television programme ‘Who Do You Think You Are’, and, just before Covid struck, as a tutor for the Open Association at St Andrew’s University. Ruth is currently writing a biography on 19th century scientist Mary Somerville, and also researching the suffragettes and the 1911 census in Scotland. She is particularly interested in women’s history and regularly runs womens history walking tours in Edinburgh.
