St. Peregrine (1265-1345) was a priest of the Servite Order (Servants of Mary) who experienced the Lord's miraculous healing of a cancerous growth on his foot, avoiding an amputation. During his lifetime, his prayers were associated with cures for others' illnesses. The Church has since appointed him patron of persons with cancer, foot ailments, or any incurable disease.
