About this Event

Ever wonder what happens to your trash or where your sink water goes after it swirls down the drain? This fall, we’re diving into the hidden systems that keep San Francisco running — from the art of zero waste to the journey of every drop. These behind-the-scenes tours offer a rare glimpse into the city’s essential (and often overlooked) infrastructure, revealing how innovation, policy, and human effort come together to make urban sustainability possible. Come see the unseen side of SF — and rethink what “waste” really means.

The next two meetings are Field Trips!

November 14th Wastewater Treatment: “Part 2: The Journey of Every Drop”
What: Join us for a behind the scene tour of SF’s wastewater treatment facility. During this private tour you will have the opportunity to ask questions to industry experts and view the operating facility. Limited capacity.

  • When: Friday, November 14, 10am-12pm/ address to be sent

December 16 – SF Living Seawall: “Part 3: Building Shoreline Resilience”

What: Join us for a special behind-the-scenes tour of the Living Seawall pilot along the shoreline of Port of San Francisco. We’ll explore how this innovative project uses textured panels to support marine life and strengthen our waterfront against flood, sea-level rise, and seismic threats. You’ll have the chance to ask questions of project experts and see how resiliency science meets community and infrastructure. Limited capacity.

When: Tuesday, Dec 16 @ 4:30 PM (address to be sent)
