You may have seen a post by the City of Montgomery that Montgomery Farmers Market is hosting a mini-Market once a month on the 4th Wednesday at Montgomery Quarter... and that is true!
We do want to emphasize that this is a mini-Market... meaning that is a scaled-down version of our usual Saturday, so shoppers should not expect to see all their usual vendors. We received a lot of questions both from shoppers and vendors alike, so we are using the opportunity to answer a couple of those questions. Please take a moment to read through this explanation, because we want to provide clear expectations for our shoppers!
1. What are the dates of the monthly Wednesday mini-Market?
Our first Wednesday is July 22nd. The other two Wednesday Markets are August 26th & September 23rd.
2. What time does the mini-Market take place?
The mini-Market will be from 4 pm to 6 pm.
3. How many vendors will setup? Which vendors will be there on Wednesday?
On Wednesday July 22nd, we'll have three vendors... Jessie's Garden, Hilltop Family Farm, and Birch Creek Bakery. We will send out another newsletter the Monday before with similar information for August 26th and September 23rd.
4. Will the Market be introducing new vendors on Wednesday that don't setup on Saturday?
No, only our full-time & half-time farmers or staple / pantry food vendors are eligible to setup at the monthly mini-Market this year. We will not be introducing new vendors or allowing crafter and non-food vendors to setup on the monthly Wednesday.
5. Why is the Market hosting another Market Day? Do we need a second Market in Montgomery?
Let us answer the second question first... We don't know the answer since we don't have the data, so our monthly Wednesday mini-Market is a bit of an experiment! Our "why" is because we see this an opportunity to get to know our newer neighbors of Montgomery Quarter where the residents may not have experienced the Market yet. We want to provide a "taste" of what a Saturday Market looks like! Montgomery Quarter is a growing portion of our City, and the Montgomery Farmers Market wants to help evolve the area over time and watch the efforts of the City flourish!
Our vendors will be setting up along the sidewalk in front of Livery & Bru Burgers. The City of Montgomery is graciously reserving a few parking spots for shoppers to stop by! There will be no live music, and our usually programming (like SNAP/EBT redemption & the Three Peas Game) will not be available on the monthly Wednesday.
If you have some grocery needs and still want to support Montgomery Farmers Market vendors, stop by on Wednesday for a quick shopping trip (and maybe grab some dinner at Montgomery Quarter, too)!
