Join us on Friday, October 3rd from 6-9pm for a free, family-friendly celebration of the legacy and future of Monte Rio’s unique historic downtown, once home to a bustling train station, an eight-story hotel, and dozens of local businesses. This free community gathering transforms the Park & Ride at the intersection of Moscow Road and Main Street into a vibrant celebration featuring live music, food vendors, and a local art market. After sunset, experience rare historic photos and videos from the Russian River Historical Society projected onto the side of Bartlett’s market along with a special performance. The event also includes open houses at the Historical Society archive and Monte Rio Fire Station and large-scale historic photographs. Be part of the revival! Additional parking available across the Monte Rio bridge near the Rio Theater.
In the lead up to the event there will be also two volunteer workdays to help with cleanup and continued revitalization of the historic downtown area on both Saturday September 6th and September 27th from 9am-11am.
The Monte Rio Revival is supported by Friends of Monte Rio, the Russian River Historical Society, Monte Rio Fire Protection District (now Gold Ridge Fire District), and the two volunteer work days are organized in partnership with Monte Rio Rec & Park and Russian Riverkeeper. The event received funding through Creative Sonoma's District 5 community arts grant program.

Q: Where should I park for the event? A: Parking is available across the Monte Rio bridge near the Rio Theater and Community Center. Please plan for a short walk to the event location.
Q: Is this event family-friendly? What activities are available for children? A: Absolutely! This is a multigenerational community event. Children will enjoy the art market, s'mores around the warming fire, historic photo projections, and the general festive atmosphere. We encourage families to attend together.
Q: What should I bring? A: Just bring yourself, family, and friends! Food and beverages will be available for purchase from local vendors along with picnic tables for eating. S'mores supplies will be provided at the warming fire. You may want to bring a blanket or chair for comfort.
Q: What happens if it rains? A: The event will proceed rain or shine, though some activities may be modified for safety.
Q: Can I volunteer or help with the event? A: Yes! There are volunteer cleanup days on Saturdays September 6th and September 27th from 9am-11am where community members can help with downtown cleanup efforts and discuss ideas for continued revitalization. Q: Will there be restroom facilities available? A: Yes, portable restroom facilities will be provided at the event location. Handicap bathrooms available at the RRHS.
